FRASE is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer originally from Montreal and is now residing in Ymir, British Columbia. As a solo artist FRASE has been touring Internationally since 2015. Blending the sounds of Soul, Hip-Hop, Dub and Blues with the modern dance floor flavours of House and Bass music, FRASE pulls from the retro while pushing to the future.
Mary Ann Spears (DJ Ginger) is a highly recognized presence in the Kootenay electronic music scene having rocked stages every year at the Shambhala Music Festival since 2000. In her over 20 years as a DJ, Mary Ann has introduced dance-floors to a diversity of EDM producers before they become household names and the genre of her sets can only be categorized as her own. She is one of five DJs who comprise the Meow Mix all-female DJ crew, playing clubs, festivals and parties throughout Western Canada.
FractionOne24 is Rupert Keiller; a singer, songwriter, 'bitsa' instrumentalist and electronic music producer from Rossland. FractionOne24 began as an experiment to increase productivity in the studio by setting time restrictions and grew from there. The original idea was to be limited to 1 hour per day for seven days to complete each track. This track took considerably longer than that... Rupert loves all kinds of music but especially all kinds of electronic music.
Though new to the Neuro/Dub scene, Ontario native Ryan Dekker is someone worth keeping an eye on. A true studio workhorse, he has amassed a hard drive full of sub-blistering bangers over the last few years, most of which have gone unheard to anyone other than his handful of loving (and patient) roommates. As a self-proclaimed, “lover of crisp tunes” he delivers exactly that with every one of his immaculately designed sounds, treating your ears to frequencies only ever rarely heard.
The art of making music with a lifelong friend is truly magical. Friends for nine years, Ella Korth and Talel McBriar have merged their musical abilities to produce a harmonious duo of singing and instrumentals. Both raised in Nelson BC, Ella and Talel, now seventeen and eighteen, have been playing folk music together since they were fourteen.
Deep Down Yonder is a multi-instrumentalist who combines live instruments such as five-string banjo, guitar, bass, dobro and harmonica with homemade electronic beats, samples, and synth pads. His sound is a whole new style of danceable, multi-layered, renegade electro-mountain music that blends genres and walks the line between country, funk, and psychedelic four on the floor house. Dennis Jaysen Charles is the man behind the beats and strings.
Named after the Norse goddess of love, Freya is a musical duo that emanates the essence of their namesake with every note. With intertwining melodies and exquisite harmonies, the duo has taken their serendipitous convergence and created a distinct and original flavour that evokes the passion, anguish and natural beauty that rests at the heart of their music.
Tenise Marie is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Argenta, BC. Her musical influences are a cross-pollination of Contemporary Pop and the confessional songwriting of Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Tenise is a Selkirk College Music alumni, and a Columbia Basin Trust/Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance grant recipient. Her latest project is an album of original songs entitled "The Sailor & The Gypsy", which will be available Spring 2018!
Emma Kade is a young, up and coming singer/songwriter from Creston BC. She taught herself how to play guitar at 13, and started writing original music. At 17, she was signed to a small American record label with which she recorded and released her debut album Transparent in 2014. Since then, she has opened for Juno award winners, worked with award-winning producers, and played shows all over BC. With lyrics beyond her years, Emma is a unique blend of folk and pop music, captivating every audience.
Dawson Rutledge is a hip, award-winning, sophisticated young songwriter from Cranbrook. He is a unique vocalist, and serious about his craft. At 20, Dawson is already something of a vet, having crammed a full-blown apprenticeship into 2 heady years. After being discovered at an emerging artist festival in Arizona, Dawson was introduced to Grammy Award-winning Producer Justin Guip, who was keen to record Dawson's music. Dawson has just returned from a West Coast USA Tour, promoting his new album "Monsters".
The truth at last… Meter Bridge are Richard Kleef and Jill Beaulieu. Playing and recording since 2011, they have jointly created an expansive catalogue of tracks. Undaunted by continuous positive feedback, this quirky couple are always creating new work. Their influences include Cluster, Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, The Cocteau Twins, Magazine, The The, and St. Savior. Picture David Bowie, Groove Armada, Hot Chip and the Knife melded into thoughtfully arranged original compositions.
Dariynn Silver creates raw music that makes you feel. She explores the depth and mystery in music and lives to expose it. In 2017, after 10 years of writing and performing in local bands, the 23-year-old began a solo, year-long songwriting project called SELF / SCRIPTS. Each month she wrote and published a song based on a different emotion observed in herself. This was a year that ultimately brought more self-awareness, honesty, and vulnerability. Now, Dariynn continues to create more for 2018.
Mike Hodsall is a local musician who has been active for more than 2 decades. He has recorded 12 albums and performed in over 25 countries from North America to the UK and from Europe to Asia with DOA, BCDC, Raven Head, Circle the Wagons, and Noble Five. He's also performed coast to coast across Canada as a solo acoustic artist. He's currently working on an ambient/orchestral album and an instrumental guitar album. Mike is also working towards tv and film scoring.
Michael Frederick, rocker at heart, is a singer-songwriter and a multi-instrumentalist, piano and guitar are his main instruments. He is a prolific songwriter and records in his studio "THE SOUND WORKS" currently located in Nelson, BC Canada. His music is distributed worldwide through Sony's "The Orchard". Michael performs his originals locally and can interchange guitar and piano on his songs to fit each venue.
From the murky depths comes Giant Water Bug! Bathed in light and craving Rock N Roll purification, cleansing all unbelievers in their wake of destruction. Giant Water Bug play Wah-Drenched Swampy Psych-Rock. With a healthy dose of blues, garage, and psychedelic influences their music pulses with energy and captivates crowds. Hailing from Rossland BC, deep within the West Kootenay, they bring new definition to the term Mountain Music.
Easy Ruckus is a Canadian music group out of Golden, British Columbia. Creating all original music with a unique sound fusing between rock, blues, folk, reggae & psychedelic - resulting in a style and feel yet to truly be shaped. Influenced by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, The Black Keys, LCD Soundsystem & Current Swell. Easy Ruckus has supported groups such as Folk Road Show, Lion Bear Fox, Five Alarm Funk & Boogie Patrol.
Born between two peaks thru the valley. As a youth going to many festivals with his Ma was his intro to a world cultural upbringing. The seed was planted with the Youthman's love for world music and culture. Having passions with guitar/singing and songwriting at first. Then the year was 1993 it was Hemp Fest at Hidden Creek Ranch near Salmo B.C. The world of percussion became the heart and backbone of his musical orchestration. Humble is grateful and forever expresses deep gratitude for the memories and experiences along his journey in life.

Featuring Chris Shortall on guitar and vocals, Robby Roots on bass, Kenji Fukushima on guitar, and Todd Lester on drums. This track is produced by Patrick Bonin.
JUNO nominee Melody Diachun is a Kootenay based singer-songwriter with a soulful and friendly voice, and a crackerjack band that unites the freedom and excitement of improvisation with funk, rhythm & blues, and fun. Celebrating her 2018 release Get Back to the Groove, the focus is on irresistible originals, unexpected covers, and compelling grooves. In 2009, Melody was nominated at Canada’s National Jazz Awards for “Female Vocalist of the Year.”
Bill has been playing music in Nelson for more than 25 years. His debut album, Would You Speak on My Behalf, was recorded with the help of nearly 20 great Kootenay musicians. After a break-up each of the ex-partners begins to build a separate narrative, one in which they themselves tried hardest to make it work. But always, when it happens, one of the two is not ready. This R&B tune “You’re Not Ready” called for the sound of a big band featuring Aryn Sheriff’s BG vocals and Ric Lingard’s brass section.
Elkford BC band, The Burn Ins, are signed to BC community record label Mighty Speck Records. Their bluesy indie-rock sound will take you on a delightfully dark journey into a foot-stomping good time. Members include Aaron Lyall on drums and bassist Kristine Lyall fronting the accompanying band with her own brand of soulful vocal stylings.
After playing in various successful bands for over 30 years, Stelio Calagias (lead singer, guitar, harmonica) and his brother-in-law Phil Wilson-Birks (bass guitar) finally fulfilled their life long dream of creating their own 4 piece electric blues band now known as "Baker Street Blues." After only 2 years and over 90 shows the band has achieved outstanding success. The band is rounded out with Mike Bennett (lead guitar, harmonica) and Malik Mourah, drums.
The band of musicians and singers plays and sings a wide and eclectic variety of music including gospel/old-time country/songs from musicals/familiar tunes from the 1920's to the 1950's mostly. Formed in Kaslo in 2011, the band has seen a few changes in personnel with the core holding. Performs covers of popular and familiar tunes once a year in Kaslo and Argenta.
The New Gramophones are a 5-piece Old-School Soul, Retro-Pop and Swing-era Jazz band based out of Nelson, BC. Playing re-imaginations of hits from the golden era of vinyl and honouring artists such as The Beatles, Nina Simone, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Jimi Hendrix, the New Gramophones' fresh takes on timeless classics bring a new twist to familiar favourites, delighting audiences of all generations.
With a thunderous sound, Heavy Airship descends on the Kootenay region of British Columbia like a storm coming in from the Misty Mountain. In just a short time the Nelson-based Led Zeppelin tribute has gained a faithful following in the area and has shared the stage with the likes of Dr. Hook and the legendary AC/DC tribute act BC/DC. Recreating the classic sound of Led Zeppelin, Heavy Airship consists of Craig Thiessen on vocals, Gus Dixon on guitar, Quillan Hanley on bass guitar and Eddie Thomas on drums.
A young trio of talented musicians living in Kaslo and attending J.V. Humphries School, playing keyboard, guitar, banjo and mandolin they sing and play with confidence and talent. Popular with all ages of folk in the Kaslo area, the musical future looks bright for these young talented and committed singers.
